Mentality's 3.10 OE-A Installation Tutorial

A Few people have asked so I am going to make this very clear - This is a custom firmware so it DEFINATLY DOES WRITE TO FLASH. Which if done incorrectly may lead to a funky looking yet useless PSP paperweight.

You can install this from 1.50 or from any other of Dark_Alex's Custom Firmwares. I have removed any other updates as again this is a major update so any previous versions are not required. Support will still be given if requested.

3.10OE-A Download HERE
Recovery Download HERE

3.10OE-A' Update (A2)

This custom firmware Does NOT work on TA-082 Boards (Unless You Managed To downgrade To 1.50 Using Dark_Alex's Downgrader, DO NOT EVEN TRY or you WILL BRICK your PSP

In this tut you will here me talk alot about the PSP main root, or main directory and the PSP folder located in the main driectory, You may not know what I mean so here are some picture diagrams to assist you. They also tell you where ISO folder goes and where the Homebrew Games/Apps and Custom Firmware Upgrades go.

[[[For People Who Don't Have 3.10OE-A Installed Please Start Here]]]
[[[For People Who Already Have 3.10OE-A And Want To Upgrade to 3.10OE-A' (A2) Skip This Step]]]

Download 3.10OE-A from the link provided and extract it (Using WinRar) -

Put the four folders [%__SCE__310oeflasher] [__SCE__310oeflasher] [%__SCE__oeupdmaker] [__SCE__oeupdmaker] into the GAME150 folder if on another custom firmware or into the GAME folder if using 1.50. Then Exit USB

Go to game and run "3.10 OE-A Update Maker" this may take some time. Once it is done, go back to USB and go into [__SCE__oeupdmaker] and copy DATA.DXAR (If you have known file types hidden the file may appear only as DATA, do not worry this is the right file.) and move it to [__SCE__310oeflasher] and then exit USB

Go to GAME in the PSP XMB, then down to memory stick an run 3.10OE-A Firmware Install (Make sure you have at least 75% battery power, or if your feeling gutsy press and hold Triangle and L to bypass the security method) once loaded press X and wait for the custom firmware to be installed. Then it will ask you to press x to restart the PSP manually.

Once it is done ensure you have and ISO folder in the main root of the memory stick and a GAME150 folder in the PSP folder in the main root of the memory stick, if you do not, then create them now or the PSP will crash. (If you format the memory stick using the PSP 3.10OE-A Will now automatically create those files for you )

[[[For People Who Don't Have 3.10OE-A' (A2) Installed Please Start Here]]]

This update requires 3.10OE-A to be installed

Download 3.10OE-A' (A2) from the link provided and extract it (Using WinRar) -

Put The Folder [310_a2update] Into The GAME150 folder found in the PSP Directory in the main root of the memory stick.

Go GAME in the PSP XMB, Then down to memory stick and run - 3.10OE-A' Update

DONE!!!

Games continue to go into the ISO folder, Homebrew apps, Games and Dark_Alex Firmware Updates now go into GAME150, PS1 games go into the GAME folder. If something aint working I can guarentee its because you aint read this so that's why I put it in red.

Ok heres the deal, some games may not work when you try them, I had this problem and it took me some time to work it out. I found that if NO-UMD was disabled and you put a disk in then this fixed the problem - so NO-UMD seems to not work on some games at the moment, I'm sure this will be fixed in a future version.

To disable No-UMD - power up your PSP while holding R, go to configuration and find "Use NO-UMD (Which may say "currently enabled") if it is enabled, disable it, then go back and exit. (if it is already disabled then leave it.)

Location Free Player has been took out of this version, it simply won't work when you select it, this was to create some space in the NAND memory, but I think we can live without it anyway. (This may be brought back in a module that is playable from the memory stick as with some previous custom firmwares that came before this one by different creators.)

You may need to re-enable WMA and Flash playback, and if you don't have a wirless connection then don't worry, you guy's havn't been left out - Power your PSP up in recovery mode by Pressing R while the PSP is starting up and go to Registry Hacks and select - "Activate WMA" and "Activate Flash Player"

You no longer need Devhook so if you wish you may delete it. Devhook can still be used if you put the launcher mod into the GAME150 folder, so if and when future firmware support comes out, and if it is Devhook format first then you will be able to take full advantage.

I do not take responsablility for any damages that may be incurred when using this firmware, you are respnsable for yourself and what you do. Although I have not written here anything that I have not done on my own console and am confident that nothing will go wrong if you follow the tutorial correctly.

If you do have any problems where a brick is incurred then put the RECOVERY folder (Download from the link at the top of this page) into the GAME folder in the PSP directory in the main root of the memory stick, boot up in recovery mode and select "Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP - This can also be done if you simply change your mind and just want to downgrade back to 1.50. (People upgrading from 1.50 may not have this option if bricking occurs during the upgrade)

PHEW!!! I think I have covered everything here, if anybody has any problems feel free to ask here, I hope you all enjoy this new release and I hope you can all follow the tutorial ok.

I decided to make this a fresh tutorial as it's a new firmware with new advantages, so it should be on it's own.

I would like to thank Dark_Alex for not leaving us just yet and giving us this amazing gift, I would like to thank Dutch for this site, and would like to thank everybody for their support, my previous tutorial was my first ever tutorial and it seemed to go down really well.

Good luck and Enjoy
