How To Install Firmware 3.03 For The Sony PSP

First thing to do is backup what is on your PSP. Plug the USB cable from your PC to your PSP or take the flash memory card out and connect to your PC. Backup everything just in case anything goes wrong.

Download the firmware 3.03 file from http://www.psphome.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=51 and then extract the file which should create a EBOOT.PBP file, If it does not then rename the extracted file to EBOOT.PBP

Connect your PSP to your PC via your USB cable. Make sure the power cable is connected to your PSP and make sure you have a fully charged PSP, We don’t want your PSP to run out of battery in the middle of an upgrade. (This could corrupt your PSP and break it) Turn your PSP on. Go to the settings menu and select USB connection

Now on your PC go to windows explorer (Click start then run, type in explorer and click enter) You will see your PSP files pop up on a drive shown below circled in red, it will say “Removable Disk / Media” Go to that drive and double click on PSP then GAME, in this Folder create a folder called UPDATE note all in capital letters. Now copy the EBOOT.PBP file in to this folder.

Now disconnect from USB mode by pressing the O button. Click the right button 5 times to get to the GAME menu, click down until you get to Memory Stick then click X. Select PSP Update Ver 3.03 and click X

On the next screen click X to start the upgrade. Read the license agreement and press X, then select accept and press X. Now it lists what the update includes, press right then X to accept. The update will now begin. Make sure you do not power off your PSP or disconnect the power supply during the upgrade or this could break your PSP. The update should take 3 – 4 minutes to complete.

You will get a message saying upgrade complete, Press X and this will the restart / Boot your PSP. I would recommend connecting your PSP to your PC and delete the EBOOT.PBP file. Good luck with your new firmware J

you put game demos in the game file with the file they are in it should have a name like UCUS98655 (all game files are different) and videos, i prefer to covert them to MP4 format ( saves a little bit of space) those just go in the video file that you see when you first plug your psp in. i recommend the WINavi MP4 coverter and crack. Give me a minute and i will find the download and crack.

http://www2.winavi.com/download/wina..._converter.exe that is the coverter don't use it till you have cracked it or your movie will have a message in the middle of it, don't worry that it says Ipod coverter, it's the one you want, when you are ready to convert it click on the button that says MP4 then open and choose the file you want to convert and where you want to save it at. I preferr to move my files manually. so connect your PSP and copy the file into the first VIDEO file that you see. Please be aware that if you never formatted your memory stick...well you should it erases all the data on it and inputs all the nessecary files to be able to move your movies. my next post will have the crack.

SRY about my spelling

It won't: it's an official update.

To those getting a corrupt file. Occasionally files don't transfer properly from the PC to the PSP, which is how they end up corrupt. Just delete the corrupt file and download it again, and maybe make sure the battery's quite full. Apparently that makes a bit of a difference.

Not everyone wants to use their PSP for homebrew and emulators, so the updates are there for those that want to be able to use it to play their new games.

For those still getting the corrupted data notice: delete that corrupted data, make sure your battery's charged past 75% and keep your adaptor plugged into your PSP. Then try updating again: it should be fine this time. Make sure you delete the corrupted data first before going through the update process again, otherwise you might end up with another corrupt file.
