Crazy Taxi on PSP to provide some Hot Summer Lovin'

1UP has conducted a preview on Crazy Taxi PSP and it seems as if its just as fan as we all remember! The game plays well, looks well and should further brighten the dull summer months of the gaming industry for just $30.

Quote:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but a little bit of polish never hurt anything. First of all, there will be up to seven new bands, but the choices aren't quite narrowed down yet. If you don't like any of those there will also be the option to stream your own soundtrack off a Memory Stick with the custom music player. The dialogue will also be updated to get rid of any dated or overly-cheesy lines, with some characters (mostly passengers) getting new voiceovers -- one new voice will be the announcer for multiplayer mode. The port team is in contact with the original producers to make sure that their choices, including new game mechanics for multiplayer, are appropriate for the series.

If you played the original Crazy Taxi, it should be easy enough to pick up the PSP version. The controls carry over fine, so you'll be racking up fares in no time. At this point, the game looks pretty much like you would expect, minus the final optimization that will happen in the next couple of months. But the developers say to look for some added visual effects (such as dust under your wheels) in the final version later this year. For a discounted $29.95, it might not be a bad summer buy.

Crazy Taxi was pretty cool. I'll probably get this once it's out. I like race games in general, and any game that combines racing with crashing into stuff and running over people is right at the top of my list.

I loved using a pedestrian crossing the street as a ramp to cross intersections with cross traffic in Road Rash.

Well, I hope you tried GTA: LCS, GTA: VCS, and Burnout for PSP.

I have GTA:LCS (patched one unfortunately ), and I'll probably get VCS when it hits the first price drop (I like to buy my games on sale or used if I can). I don't remember seeing any reviews of Burnout. Is it any good?

Burnout was the first game I got for the PSP, its one of the earlier games for the system and is basically a port of burnout 3 with some of its maps and some from the earlier games.

Very fast racing where the more dangerous you drive, the quicker your NOS 'recharges' and the faster you go, driving even more dangerously.

I really liked it, the load times are rather long though and it managed to crash the PSP once or twice.

Review of the game.

Looks like something I might like. I'll keep an eye out for it.
