Virtua Tennis 3 on PSP Difficult to distinguish from PS3

SEGA's Virtua Tennis for PSP is set to become the best console to handheld port in a long while. If you put the two side by side, the difference is almost impossible to tell as the resolution and clarity of the PSP screen is so good. The actual content is EXACTLY the same on both versions with the PSP boasting something extra by way of an ad hoc multi-player feature.

SEGA's Virtua Tennis 3 could be the most accurate console-to-PSP port that we've seen so far. In fact, if you were to play it alongside the PS3 version (which we have in-house and previewed last week), it would be difficult to tell the difference between the two. Impossible as that may sound, it's because of the PlayStation Portable's small LCD screen -- it keeps the resolution and detail discrepancies from being immediately noticeable (they are there; they're just hard to spot.)

But when I say that Virtua Tennis 3 is an accurate port, it isn't in reference to the visuals. No, what it really means is that the game's PSP content is identical across the board. In fact, some could say that the handheld version is actually bigger than its PS3 counterpart because it allows people on four different machines to play each other (via ad hoc). Without an online feature, you can't do that on Sony's next-gen system.

Cool, but it doesn't say if the loading times are affected. I hope that means there's not that much of a problem.

Well, if you had a homebrew compatible PSP, you can always dump the UMD to ISO. It will decrease load times a great amount. What firmware is your PSP?

It's okay, it's just that there's finally some games with better quality graphics (Ratchet and Clank made me go even though i'm not a fan) so i was just wondering if there was any slowdown because of it.

What you got? PSP fever . Do you use ISO's or play PS1 games? If you do, you should upgrade your 1.50 to 3.10 OE-A (custom firmware) and downgrade your 2.00 --> 1.50. And keep updating your other one. Custom firmware makes things so much easier with loading homebrew, iso's, playing PS1 games, etc.

Third one came free with my phone. I only update UK though; US and Jap stay as they are.

I only use emulators though, not homebrew and i'm completely against ISO's. Games are expensive enough without these adding to the problem.

I was thinking of getting Virtua Tennis 3, but for PS3. But it's great that the PSP version's looking great and sounding better than World Tour, so it should sell well.
