Can't access Recovery mode

Hi, can anyone tell me why i can't get my PSP into recovery mode

I am now running 3.40-OE
plays films and demo games (no problems)

Only problem is the cso & iso games i have downloaded
(after trying the demo games, i presumed it would work)

I didn't have a recovery folder in psp/games (never did IIRC)

All i could think of was making a folder and putting files in manually
That didn't work either

If i could get into recovery mode then i can change the settings to run iso/cso
