PSP Not Recognising Memory Card

Hi guys and gurls.

I'm new to the PSP but my brother isn't and he just installed the Dark Alex hack/mod on my PSP.

I'm having problems with my Pro Duo card its an 8GB Sony one and it says it works with the PSP on the packaging and I have been told I need firmware 2.71/2 or higher for it to work. Now my PSP has Dark Alex and the system says I'm running firmware 3.40 OE-A so why does my PSP not recognise it.

The memory card is fine as it works in my PS3.

If I need to hack the PSP again can some link me to the instructions for this and I can get my brother to do it for me.

i doubt the firmware is the problom.....while your at the psp's main screen check the memory stick's information and it should say:

MagicGate:and it can either say Supported,Unknown,or Not Supported

if it says unsupported than your memory stick wont work with the psp....
my memory stick say's unknown but it works fine

If you got the stick on eBay, you probably got a fake Sony stick. Never buy memsticks from eBay - more than 80% are fake.

As to whether you can use an 8GB stick or not - Sony added support for 8GB sticks in 2.71, so any firmware newer than that can handle 8GB, including the custom firmwares based on 3.xx. You could try formatting the stick in the USB via the System Settings -> Format Memory Stick.

hi there!
i too have an 8gb memmory stick and my psp recognises it and works ok BUT only upto about 4gb of data i.e games movies music totaling 4gb after that everything added after 4gb comes up as corruopt data on my psp!!!!
any ideas please!
i have formmated the stick all ok on the psp and im running 3.9m33 on it
