Swiss Heritage

Hi! I'm 60 years old, married with two grown children. For the last six years I've worked on the grounds of a state park, cutting grass, planting, raking leaves, etc. Most of my life before that I worked in computer programming and help desk.

My wife teaches Kindergarten. We have a daughter who is married, with two children, and lives in Quebec, and a son who lives in China.

Some of my current interests are promoting the moral and spiritual education of children, spreading the knowledge and love of God, and working with the Free Software Foundation.

How I landed in this forum:

My wife just got a PSP, and we fell for one of the download frauds promoted by Adserve. She had seen one of the Yahoo or Google ads for them, while she was searching for downloads. Before we paid, I did a Yahoo search for some independent reviews and articles, and thought I found some. Now I know that the reviews and articles I found were all part of the affiliate marketing network promoting the fraud.

I didn't think there was any hope of getting a refund, but it turned out to be easy. The payment was to ClickBank, and ClickBank refunds automatically, with no questions asked, up to 60 days after the payment.

Since then I've been exploring how I can help people get refunds, and stop the ads on search engines. I've posted articles about how to get a refund, in forums where I've seen people asking about it. I've written to Google and Yahoo, explaining how the frauds work, and how to spot them.

What I would like to do now is try to persuade the administrators of PSP-related Web sites that display Adserve ads, to post warnings about the frauds on their welcome pages.

I forgot to explain the Swiss Heritage part!

My father was from Berne, Indiana, where the people are mostly Swiss.

I also forgot to explain how I came to this forum in particular. It was the second result in a Yahoo search for "PSP", after the official US Playstation site.

Interesting. Welcome to the site, SwissHeritage. I write some of the reviews here, the rest however have been copied by psphome from major sites like Eurogamer, IGN and Gamespot.

I'm glad you managed to get your money back, though i'm surprised you had to pay to download something PSP-related. Should you want to downlaod anything else PSP-related but you're unsure because of your recent experience, psphome (Jason) finds useful downloads and brings them to this site so that you don't have to go searching around sites that could end up causing problems.

Good luck with your quest.

Thank you, Steph!

What I'm looking for right now is PSP game demos. I had found a dozen or more of them on one Web site, but now I can't remember where, and it looks like I neglected to bookmark it. There were at least four Loco Roco demos. I did find and bookmark a page that has links to some demos, including four Loco Roco ones, but I'm not sure it has all the ones I saw on the page I lost.

We do have one of the Loco Roco demos here: New Loco Roco Demo

If you go to the featured downloads section of the site you'll also find demos of other new PSP games that you may like to try out.

Though it's likely the site was yourpsp.com. It's Sony's official PSP site and so you should find all PSP demos on there. The link to their site is here: The official PSP™(PlayStation®Portable) Website

The Loco Roco demos are near the bottom of this page: https://download.eu.playstation.com/...e_demos_puzzle

Hope this helps.

After a discussion in another Internet discussion, I've decided to give up trying to stop the ads for frauds, in PSP-related forums. What's the use? Even if Google took them off, or forum administrators switched to some other ad server, ads for download frauds might only be replaced by something worse.

It still agonizes me though, every time I come to one of these forums, and see those ads all over the place. I suppose I'll get over it eventually.

I've decided that whatever time I spend in PSP-related forums would be better spent in helping people. That would include answering questions about those sites, and about how to get a refund, but it wouldn't be at the center of my attention any more.

Swiss Heritage,

Welcome to the forum!

From your introduction and following posts, you seem like a very special person. I always think I should be doing more for others, but in a life and business which I pursue, my work gives me very little time to do things for myself, let alone others.
So may I thank you sincerely for your extraordinary efforts and voluntary work to help others.

God bless you,

Regards,

Henry

Thank you, Henry!

In some of my searches I kept seeing questions and answers from Yahoo Answers. Now I'm answering questions there about how to find and use free games, music, and videos for a PSP.
