Hi, new guy here with a couple of Qs

Just got my PSP today after wanting one for a year and a half Got it at Best Buy since they had a deal of getting NBA 07 free with the Entertainment pack, so even if the game is eh, it was free

Anyway, I love it so far except for a few stuck pixels. On the regular menu screen they are non existant, but appear on dark parts of games and movies (if you can call Lords of Doggtown a movie )

any tips?

BTW, it has firmware 2.71 IIRC

hi, welcome to psphome and congrats on getting a psp
Im sure there is stuck pixel fixer on the home page of this site. Download it and put it onto your psp and run the program. It should sort out the problem

i think its common, i had a few before but i cant see them now and i didnt use the pixel checker either.

I guess they go with time, but dont quote me on that as i dont know much about it myself. XD

I went through 3 psp's before I got one with 0 stuck/dead pixels.
Purchased it from kmart (in australia), I asked the girl at the counter before buying the unit if I would be able to exchange it if the screen had dead pixels and she had no problem with it. Within 20 mins I was back at the store swapping it (it had 2 dead pixels), she even suggested I could try the next one there at the counter (it had a single stuck pixel), third time lucky.

I could say the girl who worked there was very helpful, but i think she just really didnt care, and kmarts policy is to replace just about anything if you have the receipt.

Those pixel fixers can help unstick stuck pixels sometimes, theyre no good on dead (always black) pixels however. Its easier just to get a new unit.

yes. I actually ran it for over an hour and no change. In most colors it's ok, but on black, they stand out alot. there are around 5 of them

Just git back from Best Buy with a new PSP. This one is almost perfect with just a slowish pixel right in the corner which is no biggy The older one had a couple right near the center and a few more towards the left which started to get annoying

down update the system to 2.80 or above and you'll have lots of fun with your PSP unless you don't care for home brew. Oh and welcome and stay active.
