Do videogames rot or improve you mind???

what do you think.

> Are we spending to much time playing video games when we should spend more time writing / reading or generally doing other things.

>Or is gaming good for you as it tests your reactions and puzzle solving and so on.

Well I've read some studies and they all prove that video games don't make you dumber but can make you smarter, take me for example I discovered video games when I was eight years old and before that I didn't have the greatest grades, it was after the second grade did my grades increase and they are still part of the top 10% of my school and I play more video games then ever.

I think it makes us smarter but it also depends on you are see games. In terms of reading/ writing i believe it makes us (well me anyways) smarter. As i tend to go for story heavy games (rpg games mostly ) which involve a lot of writing techniques in a sense.

I also reckon that i got most of my crazy imagination from games. Ever since i discovered games my english was great and i still love writing stories

To tell you the truth It depends on the game... For example, If I play LUXOR: The Wrath Of Set, Lumines, Lumines 2, Loco Roco, Lemmings, Etc.
All of them are puzzles games and staragy Games. Of Course your going to be
learning and Solving complex stuff... Otherwise Games like, Blood and sex FTW.... You going to be learning lots of shit... Haha, Excuse my Lang...
Has you see games can... Ahhh, Well you understand...

Playing certain games do make you smarter and help keep your brain active and others are good for keeping your reflexes and reactions in shape also some games can be very educational like the World War games Call Of Duty for example!..................But there is a serious problem when someone does pretty much nothing but play videogames ........i know of a few people who play alot of videogames like everyday and they where once outgoing social people but now u never realy see them they stay at home playing games all the time and lost touch with there friends and become loners........seems like they have lost touch with reality! ..........i think videogames are ok in moderation like i myself will maybe play 4 hours a week if i get time and sometimes i dont get time to play any for months beacuse i have a career and girlfriend and friends and family e.t.c and i think your friends....girlfriends....family and career should all come before videogames but alot of people put videogames before everything else wich is very sad! ....exspecialy when its sumone in there 20's or 30's who are at that stage where they should be getting on with life!

We're all different. So I think some of us might consider video gaming just a fun waste of time, or a challenging way of achieving something quite hard.

I love Splinter Cell games for many reasons. The game is very realistic. It has many different possible approaches to completing a mission. It requires patience. Some good accuracy, and fast reaction times.

I doubt that games such as James Bond or Burnout are very good for you. As there is usually only one way of winning, and not much thought is needed. However, I'm pretty certain they don't harm you!

As already mentioned, I think gaming can be very good for people of any age, as long as it's kept within moderation.

Parents should be very atentive over their kids for example. Especially if they're playing a game that they shouldn't be!
