| PS3, anyone? Just wondering if anyone got a PS3 at launch today. Or if you're from USA or elsewhere, if you have one already, and how you're finding it. I'm not going to consider getting one until summer so i didn't go to the midnight launch this time, but it'll be nice to see what you guys got.
Post some pics too if you have a PS3, and tell us what you got with it. |

| Well my wife has told me my new PS3 is safe at home now, but I'm still in the US until Saturday evening, so I've still got to wait! I'll get Formula One Edition on Sunday if I can!

| In my country they're behaving like a bunch of Jerks! They're giving away the PS3 at surprisingly $1,200 USD!!!!! Can you freaking believe that???? !!
I consider myself a super-mega PStation fan and of course and want to buy it so bad!! But neither I'm so stupid to pay such a High Price! I guess my only option here is to wait up 'till the prices goes down, or import it from another country!
Bastards!

| That's an enormous price! I pre-ordered mine at £450 / US $860.
I've been quite fascinated by the new shape of the game boxes! Lol.

I wouldnt bother getting formulq one, read a review saying the handling is absolutely terrible. Put me off getting a PS3 till GT5 comes out. Was really looking forward to the F1 but not now.
While it says F1 is awesome to look at and has great career mode, the terrible handling make u forget all that. said 5/10. cant be good to get that, Bit gutted as wanted that game bad.

| Someone was killed over a PS3?! That's terrible.
I've only played mine for a few hours now on Sunday, but it's great! As it turns out GMC79 was right. Formula One Edition isn't that great. The controls are majorly twitchy. So I've set the AI to easy and do my best to put out a solid lap, not even mentioning consistant laps, but the visual is superb. It has proved its cash for me, so I'm pleased. Will just be getting some better games soon!
Anyone else got a PS3?

| I guess it depends on your own personal preferences, because so far i've heard that Formula 1 is one of the best games out. |

| Steph, it does look truly amazing. My 360 wouldn't be able to kick out an image like that, but for this particular game the analogue sticks are quite twitchy. As I've said I haven't played it much yet, and I'm not even used to the PlayStation controller after using the 360 for so long, but I'm also going to get the PS3 racing wheel.

| You are aware that as of right now the PS3's graphics have only been manipulated to 30% of it's full potential, and Xbox 360 pretty much the same?
What we see now is nothing, Xbox 360 can churn out anything the PS3 can.
Give it a few years.
Yes I've got a PS3, but have only used it twice, then I went to play Gears of war |

| Yes, 1 donkey is all that is needed to run the Iraq properly.
But it seems like we've got 1,000,000 of them running the USA and it's still f*#@!d up.
So is 10,000 PS3's gonna cure cancer?
No, it's just gonna melt the polar ice caps.

| @ hippysnake: Language please!
But why would Sony and Microsoft only run their consoles at 30%? I can't believe that for a second. If so, Sony would surely have released the PS3 at 60% and blow the socks off the 360!
All the techy stuff aside, I really like my PS3. I bought Ridge Racer 7 and Resistance: Fall Of Man last week.

| Hippysnake: Its not a matter of 'using 30%' of the console, its how well optimized the code is for the hardware and how experienced the programmers are with utilizing the power efficiently.
Especially on the PS3 this is difficult due to the fact the CPU is largely focused on multithreaded code and programmers and programming techniques for gaming in general up to now have not really been designed in a way that can be optimized for parallelism.
Even without that, compare mario 1 to mario 3 on the NES, a huge improvement owed entirely to clever programming possible through experience with pushing the hardware.
Both would have been using all the power they had available, the later game was just designed to use that power better.
As for cancer or whatever, thats just another stupid sony marketing line like the PS2's 'real time toy story' claims.
There are far bigger, more powerful clusters of computers that could work on the data than a few networked PS3s. |

| Oops.
What I meant was that developers have only exploited 30% of the Xbox 360's and PS3's power. (I read it on QJ somewhere...i think) |
