ATI or nVIDEA graphic cards are always the top on my list.
What type of game are you trying to run?

I believe NVIDIA would be the best choice for your PC, I guess it's quite more expenssive than the ATI (I guess) , But Worth the money, I definetly would go for the NVIDIA card...

Nvidia used to be the best bang for buck, it seems to be ATI these days though.

Also, a sempron CPU is AMD's low end chip, try to get an Athlon XP x2 or even better an intel core 2 duo.

I would STRONGLY recommend avoiding vista, its just plain awful.

If you want a 3d alt-tab and other useless features in exchange for a god awful interface and bugs then make sure you get 2gb of ram.

Screenshots of it look nice.
Its when you go to use it that the experience falls apart.

Slashdot | The End is Nigh for XP

Get it while you can

I love the quote "Dell recently said it would reintroduce XP on a range of machines due to customer demand but Microsoft will only allow this until the end of the year".

It's always great news when customers are begging not to be forced into your new product, right?

I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting XP currently.

The really crap thing about the whole vista mess, is that M$ have chosen not to implement DX10 on XP.
So even though currently vista is shocking for gaming (games run much worse than they do under xp), eventually games are going to be made for DX10 and you'll be forced into vista.

I guess they know theres no new noteworthy features in it, and they cant convince people an OS built around DRM is a good thing for them (the movie studios love it though) so they have to force people into upgrading somehow.

@xx-reecey-xx: d'you know where can I find the "Vista theme" for XP???
And other question,
Do I need to install this annoying program called "style xp"??? I don't know if you have heard of it, most of the custom themes you find in the web need this program to run in your pc....

Wel there is a free way in which you download first uTorrent or bitTorrent or something that opens .torrent files, i use uTorrent
Then set all of that up and type in
vista transformation pack
or something along those lines and it'll show you your choices
or theres a none free way which is buying vista
i have a thought you might wanna do it the free way though
i dunno wether its illegal but i would recomend dpwnloadin a transformation thing that doesnt mess with the registry files cuz if you dont like it and try to take it of it will leave those files there and wont give you the XP files back

DX10 = Direct X 10.

It is the windows graphics/sound/input etc API (application programming interface) that developers use to make games for windows.

New versions add more features that new graphics hardware can support.
You may hear about graphics cards being 'fully dx9 compliant' meaning the hardware on the card can support all of the features of directx9.

M$ has said there will be no directx10 for PC, and new games like Crysis (sequel to the awesome Farcry) are going to require DX10 to have all their new-fangled fancy eye candy effects enabled and looking their best.

There is also opengl but it is being used less and less. Thats another story.
