Homebrew users banned from upgrading

Members of the QJ forums seem upset that they can't upgrade to Sony's latest official firmware. Why? Because they've been using custom firmware on TA-082 PSPs. The 3.30 firmware installer doesn't seem to run on these modified systems, giving a mysterious 'DRNffffffd7 error code." These glitches seem to mirror the many found when Ratchet & Clank was released. So much for respecting the homebrew scene, huh?

Firmware 3.30 gives users some important functionality, such as official support for full-resolution videos and free internet access at T-Mobile Hotspots nationwide. For now, it seems as though users of custom firmware will have to wait until Dark_Alex and the rest of the homebrew community work their magic again.

That is correct. Those who downgraded using the old 2.71 to 1.50 downgrader and then upgraded to a custom firmware corrupted their IDstorage keys. This renders your PSP to brick when you try to update to Official Sony firmware. The only thing you can use it unofficial firmware. Unless you used the new TA-082 downgraders which don't corrupt the IDstorage keys

Exactly what I thought lol

But I guess some people are willing to give up everything that custom firmware has to offer just to have some "new" features of the official firmware.

it probably does, just isn't stated

when it says the video resolution is increased, it means you can now play downloaded movies in the psp's full screen resolution, instead of the 320x240 you have to have for other sony firmwares

dark alexs firmware does offer full resolution though
