| 1) I agree with darksora, but the incredibly slow response time and the blur it introduces (more so in some games than others, due to colour scheme) can be annoying. This seems to bother me more than others however.
2) There is currently a modchip for the psp called undiluted platium, its basically some additional memory that is connected internally to the same place as the memory that stores the psp's system memory. It allows you to have multiple versions of firmware (system software) on the psp, and also to downgrade psps with firmare 2.8 or higher back to to earlier versions.
3) I dont support nor encourage pirating psp games. If a game is worth playing then buy it, or developers will stop making games for the console. A UMD stores around 1.5gb.
4)Currently any firmware up to 2.71 can be downgraded via different software hacks. Any firmware, including 3.01 or whatever the latest is, can be downgraded via the modchip. The only issue is if your console is the newer TA-82 version you cannot downgrade below firmware 2.6, and you cannot use the modchip on TA-82s. Downgrading from 2.0 to 1.5 carries as close to 0 risk as I can imagine, the next most stable downgrader is from version 2.71, so you can just update to that then downgrade.
All firmwares, including 3.01 can be emulated on a firmware 1.5 psp with devhook. All umd games are playable through it, right up to the very latest (MSG:Portable Ops works for example).
