I could use a little help..

Hey, I'm relatively new here, but not to the whole downgrading scene, matter of fact I only had to downgrade my PSP one time, from 2.0 to 1.50 I believe.
For the longest time, it worked fine, I even ran homebrew and emulation to test it, and it worked just fine.
(Granted this was about a year or so ago, possibly two, Im not sure.. )
So I'm a happy camper with my psp that can run all the old games I love.
Yet, recently the PSP itself starts acting up when it comes to opening up the the emulator(s) (PSPNes, PSPGenesis, snes9xTYL ) It'll get to the splash screens, and wont let me load any of the games, or press buttons.
So I hit the home button to get back to the start up screen, and it wont let me hit any direction, and sometimes at this point it freezes.
So I take the battery out, and try again, and it does it again.
Finally, I decide to see if it's the unit itself, so I pop in Coded Arms, and it runs perfectly fine save for the home button thing again.
I can play music on it, perfectly and it runs fine.
However, randomly the unit will mute itself, and I can unmute it.
It's odd, because I'm not even sure how to mute the thing myself, but it does it by itself.
Any ideas? Input? Help? lol Or is it just time to put this great PSP down and let it be?
Please don't be too rough with me, if you've already covered this, but I've looked everywhere and I haven't seen anything about it.
Thanks again.
